There are too many students around the world today who need good teachers and learning tools. Unfortunately, many third world countries cannot provide the tools for the millions of children; neither can they provide the tools for teaching for their teachers. Doubly unfortunate, the teachers have to think up of the best methods with what they have at hand. The good news is that most third world countries have great internet connection. Strange as it may sound, but most of the governments in these countries can provide the internet connection but not the tools for education. It makes one think of prioritization.
This internet connection to far flung places in Asia offer a great teaching tool for many teachers who may not have the books or the capacity to gain the attention of students. With the internet, numerous schools in these far out areas have managed to set up computer terminals which could be shared by the students. In fact, strange again as it may seem, but the schools could afford to buy the whole computer package and not the books. It is ironic, but true nonetheless.
The teachers use the internet to teach and asses their students by using websites with games in them. The games are supposedly for fun, but on closer inspection they are great for teaching kids the rudiments of math, science, and eye-hand coordination. So successful is the approach to the teaching that more and more students are enrolled by previously skeptical parents. When in the past the parents would rather have their children stay at home and help out in the fields working; now they see that there is a future to the education of their children.
Thanks to the internet and the kids games found in it, teachers can now actually tempt their children to learning. They see a big difference in the way the kids like to learn in front of a book versus a computer screen. This just goes to show that regardless of what they say, the multi-media are still the best source of education and learning for children and adults alike. And thanks to the internet and the games in them, more children now learn, through playing.
